WHOLE LIFE

Minimum sum assured/premium: £25,000/£10 a month, £100 a year.

Minimum-maximum ages: 18-84.

Allocation rates: 30-97.5 per cent.

Fund links: Balanced managed, cautious managed, adventurous managed, UK deposit fund.

Charges: Annual 0.75 per cent.

Options: Waiver of premium, indexation, care support benefit.

Commission: Initial – level plans 140 per cent of Lautro, inflation proofed plans 168 per cent of Lautro, renewal 2.5 per cent.

LONG TERM CARE

Type: For future nursing care.

Minimum premium: £10 a month, £100 a year.

Minimum-maximum benefit: £25,000-£750,000.

Minimum-maximum ages: 17-84.

Cover provided: Failure of three out of six ADLs or mental impairment such as alzheimer&#39s disease.

Deferred period: Claims paid after age 65.

Options: Waiver of premium, indexation.

Charges: None.

Commission: Initial – level plans 140 per cent of Lautro, inflation proofed plans 168 per cent of Lautro, renewal 2.5 per cent.

CRITICAL ILLNESS

Minimum premium/cover: £10 a month, £100 a year/£25,000.

Maximum cover: No maximum.

Illnesses covered: Aorta graft surgery, aplastic anaemia, benign brain tumour, blindness, cancer (life-threatening), chronic liver failure, chronic lung disease, coma, coronary artery disease (requiring angioplasty on two or more arteries), creutzfeldt-jakob disease, deafness, heart attack, heart valve replacement or repair, HIV/Aids (via blood transfusion in the UK), HIV/Aids (medical and emergency services in the UK), kidney failure, loss of independant existence, loss of limbs, loss of speech, major organ transplant, motor neurone disease, Parkinson&#39s disease, permanent and total disability (own occupation), pre-senile dementia (including Alzheimer&#39s disease), severe burns, stroke.

Minimum-maximum ages: 18-84.

Charges: Annual 0.75 per cent.
