Zurich whole-of-life plan offers critical cover

Zurich Life is entering the long-term care market with a whole-of-life plan.

The product has a core benefit of life insurance or critical-illness cover to which optional benefits can be added. Options are CI cover, life cover, LTC cover and waiver of premium.

It is the LTC option which Zurich says sets it apart from other offerings in the market.

Monthly premiums start at £10 a month or £100 a year and the plan is open to all UK resident between 18 and 84.

There is a choice of five variations of cover, including standard cover, lifetime protection with premiums payable over a specific time, maximum cover, select cover which is any sum assured between standard and maximum cover and select cover term for periods in excess of 10 years.

Eagle Star, a member of the Zurich group, used to offer a plan with an LTC option, but this was discontinued last year.

Zurich IFA group protection marketing director Kevin Pearce says: “IFAs have not taken full advantage of the whole-of-life marketplace.”
