Zurich restructure see loss of two department heads

Zurich building 480

Zurich head of marketing promotions Tony Solomon and head of underwriting and protection Phil Brown are leaving the firm, Money Marketing understands.

Zurich announced it was cutting 200 jobs in September as part of a restructure ahead of the retail distribution review.

Solomon has been with Zurich for over 20 years while Brown has been with the insurer for 24 years.

The roles are being removed across sales and marketing, senior management, finance, risk, compliance and operations. Zurich UK Life currently employs 1,400 people.

As part of the cutbacks the number of branch offices was streamlined from nine to five from the end of October.

A Zurich spokeswoman would not comment on the departures as the 90-day consultation process is still ongoing.

She says: “We are not in a position to comment on individual positions while the consultation period is underway.”

PMI Independent Financial Advisers director John Stewart says: “It is always sad when firms make cuts and people who have served the company well leave as a result of those cuts.”
