Zurich platform sales head exits

Zurich Financial Services head of platform distribution Jaki Platt has left the business.

She joined Zurich as area sales director in July 2009 and took up the position of head of platform distribution in April last year.

Platt has previously been head of retail at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership from April 2001 to December 2002 and head of sales at Invesco Life from January 2001 to March 2001.

A spokeswoman for Zurich Financial Services says: “We can confirm that Platt has left the business for personal reasons. We would like to thank Platt for her dedication and support in helping to deliver our retail platform and wish her well in the future.

In terms of replacing Platt, she added: “We are currently reviewing the team structure to ensure that we have the right framework in place to ensure a successful roll-out of our platform proposition”

Zurich was due to launch its retail platform in Q4 last year but delayed the launch until this year.

Advisers see late surge in Isa sales

Investment advisers reported resilient Isa sales in the weeks before the end of the tax year deadline last Thursday. Advisers had been hoping for a busy month in the lead-up to April 5, despite figures from the Investment Management Association showing Isas suffered net outflows of £243m in January and February 2012 alone. Bestinvest says […]

MM Leader: Day of reckoning for claim culture

Eye-watering Financial Services Compensation Scheme levies have become the new normal, with no end in sight to the huge sums that advisers and their clients are paying for the failings of others. Following last month’s £60m interim levy for investment intermediaries, creating a total levy for 2011/12 of £82m, the FSCS last week announced a […]

Tony Wickenden: The part of the matter

To qualify for entrepreneurs’ relief, as well as satisfying the other conditions, there has to be a disposal of the whole or part of the business, which must be distinguished from the mere sale of an asset used in the business. Whether or not there is a disposal of part of the business is a […]

Industry under fire over pension freedoms

By Jamie Clark, Business Development Manager, Royal London Recent articles in the media have raised concerns about the new pension freedoms. One perceived problem is that across the industry, trustees and providers are not necessarily allowing people to take full advantage of the pension freedoms in situ. This is backed up by a recent survey by […]

There are 2 comments at the moment, we would love to hear your opinion too.

  1. Have Zurich given a date for the launch of their platform yet?

  2. @Anonymous:

Well, it wasn’t Q4 2011, or Q1 2012 and without a head houncho to sign it off it won’t be Q2 and porbably not Q3.

By which time it will be a bit too close to the RDR deadline to launch with the already out-of-date fund rebate system they had planned.

At which point Zurich the numbers people at Zurich HQ might “do a Macquarie/UBS/Amex”…
