Zurich has launched group spouse and partner life cover for its corporate risk customers.
The insurer says although employers may offer life cover in the event of an employee’s death, there is no similar provision if their partner or spouse dies.
Its spouse/partner cover is a voluntary group life arrangement and allows employers to set the value and number of benefits, with a maximum benefit of £250,000.
The cover is available for employees up to age 75, and involves a short application form as part of the member acceptance process.
Zurich group protection manager Nick Homer says: “We are delighted to offer this important benefit for the employees of our corporate risk customers. In today’s society there is an increasing need for additional financial support if a spouse or partner were to die, particularly when the employee has young children or financial dependents.
“The new product has been developed to be simple and cost effective, enabling employees with families to take advantage of this important benefit.”
