Zurich appoints corporate distribution manager

Zurich has appointed former Winterthur Life defined contribution account manager Melvin Hanks to the position of senior corporate distribution manager.

Hanks will be responsible for maximising the distribution of the Zurich corporate pension proposition.

He will report to head of corporate distribution Stephen Lefley and will be located in Cheltenham.

In his role at Winterthur Life, Hanks was responsible for securing new DC pension sales from actuarial and employee benefit practices.

Before this, he was regional pensions manager at Eagle Star Group which later became Zurich.

Lefley says: “Melvin is a highly talented sales manager with extensive contacts in the UK pension market. He has an excellent reputation and his appointment underlines our commitment to achieving our goal for excellence in the corporate pensions arena.”

Shape the profession

April will bring us the updated views from the FSA on feedback to the discussion paper on the retail distribution review.

No gain without pain

The bonds versus collectives debate continues to rage. Understandable focus is on the capital gains tax changes, including the abolition of indexation allowance, the abolition of taper relief and, of course, the introduction of the 18 per cent flat rate.

The late dictators

First and foremost, we are a firm of financial planners, not a manager of funds or experts in asset custody, investment dealing or investment administration.
