TBMC founders Will Wakely and Ian Wheaton are stepping back to give Young the newly created position. He will focus on growth and development of the buy-to-let and commercial mortgage broker.
Sesame has not yet found a replacement for Young, who is expected to leave at the end of May after three years at the firm. He was previously dir-ector of Zurich’s IFA Mortgage Network.
TBMC is based in Cardiff and employs 48 staff. It writes about 100m-worth of business a month.
Young says: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join a very successful company. There is the potential to grow TBMC even further. Down the line, we will look at other areas of the mortgage market, including regulated mortgages.”
Wakely says: “We are one of the biggest independent buy-to-let providers but write about 3 per cent of the business. We do not get 97 per cent of the business. Looking at this will now be our main thrust and focus.”
