Young quits Sesame for new TBMC role

Sesame mortgage product manager Andy Young is leaving the network to join The Business Mortgage Company as managing director.

TBMC founders Will Wakely and Ian Wheaton are stepping back to give Young the newly created position. He will focus on growth and development of the buy-to-let and commercial mortgage broker.

Sesame has not yet found a replacement for Young, who is expected to leave at the end of May after three years at the firm. He was previously dir-ector of Zurich’s IFA Mortgage Network.

TBMC is based in Cardiff and employs 48 staff. It writes about 100m-worth of business a month.

Young says: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join a very successful company. There is the potential to grow TBMC even further. Down the line, we will look at other areas of the mortgage market, including regulated mortgages.”

Wakely says: “We are one of the biggest independent buy-to-let providers but write about 3 per cent of the business. We do not get 97 per cent of the business. Looking at this will now be our main thrust and focus.”

The IFP’s view

I am amazed at the impact that a celebrity can have on Government policymaking. We have seen Jamie Oliver bringing to the Government’s attention the appalling standard of school catering and the rubbish that children are eating. The result has been an immediate increase in the amount that is being spent.
