WPA sets up PMI website for IFAs and clients

Western Provident Association is setting up a private medical insurance website for brokers and policyholders to monitor and manage their private health insurance.

The website enables intermediaries and corporate clients to administer their PMI policies, including buying, renewals and claims tracking.

Medical audio files are also available on the website to allow users to learn about conditions. The site also gives details of local health practitioners and private hospitals.

WPA is also offering commission on its Xshealth PMI policy, which was set up last year.

WPA registered brokers will receive a one-off introductory fee of £100 for each policy sold to over 29 year olds. For people aged 28 and under, there is an initial fee of £50 and then another £50 on the first renewal only.

The policy can be bought and sold by brokers completely over the internet, a facility which WPA says enables it to keep premiums low.

WPA communications director David Ashdown says: “The WPA website puts all the details you need, in their simplest form, in front of you so you can manage every aspect of your policy. This is a much more efficient and informative way to look after your private healthcare needs.”
