Workshops focus on switching

SimplyBiz and Clerical Medical are holding a series of 24 workshops throughout the UK to ensure members comply with the FSA’s pension switching requirements.

The workshops are designed to help members meet FSA requirements on the suitability of advice following its thematic review on pension switching.

The workshops will cover the background to the review, threats and opportunities for advisers, as well as highlighting the factors that can lead to unsuitable advice. They will also cover the recommended advice process, how to demonstrate compliance with the review, how to review past business and how to compile relevant management information.

The workshops are to be held throughout May and June and will last around three hours.

SimplyBiz compliance director Gary Kershaw says following the FSA’s thematic review on pension switching, it is important that all advisers ensure their pension switching processes are robust by the third-quarter deadline.

He says: “This is clearly an important area and we felt that our mem- bers would benefit from a workshop specifically to help them with complying within the timescale. The response has been dramatic, with delegate places being snapped up from the moment the invitations were sent.”
