Financial advice site Need An Adviser.com says its latest research shows 94 per cent of women are not aware that the age at which they become eligible for their basic state pension has changed.
Most were unaware if they were born on or after March 6, 1955, they will officially retire when they are 65 and not 60 as is commonly thought.
Director Joanne Roberts says: “This country is committed to teaching youngsters to read and write to prepare them for their start in life, even financial matters have now been included in the curriculum. However, for the rest of us, we have been left to fend for ourselves. Adult education is key, this is why we have developed our websites with this in mind.”
