Winterthur Life is spending £45,000 over the next three years to sponsor the new Milestones social history museum in Basingstoke, Hampshire.
Winterthur has been based in Basingstoke since 1981. The museum features a network of historic street scenes, a 19th century working brewery and pub.
The life office's local sponsorship already provides £20,000 to the town's Amble Theatre and £25,000 towards CCTV for Basingstoke Railway Station.
The Milestones museum a explores a variety of social and economic changes which have taken place in Basingstoke since Winterthur was established 123 years ago in 1877.
In the year Winterthur was founded, the average cost of a property in Basingstoke was £465 compared with £140,000 today while the average life expectancy for a male was 48 while now it is 75.
Chairman and chief executive officer John Finan says: “Since moving to Basingstoke in 1981, Winterthur Life has been a keen supporter of the Basingstoke community and we are happy to be a sponsor of this imaginative venture.”
