Winterthur adds Midas duo to tailored selection

The Midas balanced growth and Midas balanced inc- ome funds have been added to Winterthur Life’s tail- ored selection fund range which is available through individual pension policies and the Winterthur invest- ment bond.

In a hybrid multi-manager style, Midas Capital manages the UK equity and fixed-interest elements of the funds while outsourcing over- seas equities and alternative asset classes to third-party managers by buying external funds.

Winterthur Life was attrac- ted to this approach due to its more active style of asset allocation, enabling performance to be achieved while managing risk.

In a separate move, the two Midas funds are now also available through Canada Life’s offshore product range.

Midas Capital head of business development David Thomas says: “We are very excited about the Winterthur link because our heritage as investment managers is in the pension fund industry. Winterthur has a strong presence in the pension market so there is a genuine fit between us. We have had links with Canada Life for a while but our funds have recently been made available through the offshore range, including the delta account.”
