Wilson on Eve of a change

Bruce Wilson is stepping down as Helm Godfrey managing director in January 2011 to concentrate on financial planning service Project Eve.

He will still advise at the firm but will spend most of his time on Project Eve, which he co-founded to promote George Kinder’s life planning concept to lower-income groups.

Wilson says Project Eve will run more workshops in 2011 after its first workshop in November. He says: “Wisdom is the product. I would like everyone in the UK to know what they want to do with their money.”

Wilson set up Helm Godfrey in 1999 as founding managing director. He was previously managing director at Chantrey Vellacott Financial Management.

He will be replaced by operations manager Graham Cross but will continue as non-executive. He is hoping to be one of three IFAs voted on to the board at wrap platform Nucleus, where Helm Godfrey is a shareholder.

Wilson says he has no sympathy for advisers who say they should not have to comply with the new QCF level four minimum qualification requirement. He says: “Financial advice is complicated, so advisers have got to be better qualified.”

The yearly increase in the budget deficit as a share of GDP is “very large by historical standards”, the OECD says. It substantially exceeds the increases in previous downturns in 1975, 1981, […]
