Willcocks joins M&G’s biggest push into equities for 10 years

M&G has appointed former MFS UK sales director Jonathan Willcocks as head of discretionary sales.

He joins Steve Brear, head of retail IFA and partnerships, and John Godard, director of marketing, with the task of running M&G’s biggest push into equities for 10 years as the firm looks to diversify its range.

Since David Jane took over as head of equities in September 2002, 64 per cent of M&G equity funds have been in the top quartile. The company has also made a number of high profile fund-manager appointments, notably Mike Felton from Isis in November last year to run its capital fund.

M&G chief executive Gary Shaugnessy says: “We have a cracking team in place and the numbers are really good. We have positive views on equities in the long term.”
