Widows site offers pension tools

Scottish Widows is increas-ing its support for IFAs targeting the pension market with a pension tools website that gives illustrations of tax savings and retirement planning opportunities.

The facility has two main elements – how to save more efficiently for retirement and tax and pension planning for directors.

The retirement saving tool includes a third party, Isa and pension and basis year calculator. The director&#39s tax planning calculator covers salary sacrifice and bonus and dividend calculations.

Widows says the system makes life easier for IFAs wanting to do pension transfer business. The life company sees transfers as a growing business and set up an s32 pension product and a trustee buyout plan last December.

The company is supporting its new facility with a printed marketing pack which includes sales aids and client mailers. Advisers can access the site at

Marketing manager Ann Flynn says: “The tools microsite is an added value sales support tool for IFAs and demonstrates Scottish Widows&#39 ongoing dedication to the IFA market.

“Pension calculators can often be complex so we have worked hard to ensure that both the calculators and the microsite itself are easy to use. It is clear that the potential for the pension transfer market is large. We want to provide the tools to help IFAs in this area of business.”
