Widows offers up to 9.75% with fourth version of guaranteed plan

IFA Promotion is to return to terrestrial TV for the first time since its sponsorship of Without Walls in 1992 with a campaign starting on Channel 4 this week.

The ads will be piloted for one week in slots around the 15 to One and Countdown quiz shows before a decision is made on whether to continue this strategy. IFAP says it chose these slots because both shows encourage people to interact from home.

One ad shows different situations where people could benefit from independent advice including retirement and home buying. The second ad features a huge clock face intended to suggest the need to act quickly and get professional financial advice.

IFAP has previously advertised on the Money Channel and the now defunct Simply Money. It continues to run advertising in the consumer and trade press.

IFAP says it has received a boost with Bradford & Bingley&#39s MarketPlace signing up to bring its member firms to 9,950. Chief executive David Elms says: “We are delighted to welcome Bradford & Bingley IFAs – further recognition of the important range of services and the unbeatable value for money we offer members.”

Scottish Widows&#39 latest version of its extra income & growth plan is offering investors a return of up to 9.75 per cent a year over three years.

Alternatively, investors can choose to take a regular income of 2.3 per cent a quarter or 30 per cent growth at the end of the investment term.

The plan, which is available for Isas and Pep transfers, is linked to the performance of 30 blue-chip stocks within the FTSE 100 index, with equal weighting given to each. It provides a full return of capital provided none of the stocks to which it is linked falls by more than 33 per cent over the term.

If one or more stocks do fall below 33 per cent without recovering, the investment return will be reduced by one-30th for every stock that has fallen by that amount. The plan has a minimum investment of £10,000 except for Isa and Pep transfer investments, where the maximum is £7,000.
