A couple of hundred of the industry’s more sporty workers battled it out on the hallowed turf of Villa Park – usually reserved for the Premiership’s finest and, er, Aston Villa – in the 2005 DWS in Investments’ five- a-side tournament.In all, 22 teams took part and the cup was won by the Scottish Widows All-Stars managed by Paul Squirrell and captained by Ricky Cornish. The cup was awar-ded by Villa manager David O’Leary who, rumour has it, had his scouts out in force for the event.
