Why Centaur Media has launched ideasforinvesting (and how to get involved)

As Money Marketing’s parent company launches a new consumer website for investors called ideasforinvesting, content director, Jeremy Fawcett, explains what the site is all about and invites financial advisers to get involved.

We’ve launched ideasforinvesting to help to get real people started on their investment journey.

It aims to help them to choose a simple investment strategy which we populate with investment ideas for their consideration. The ideas are mainly funds and investment trusts but not exclusively – the only restriction is that they must be accessible to most people; so we’re not talking about the more exotic or illiquid options open to the super wealthy.

Having picked out a shortlist of ‘ideas’ the user is invited to find a financial adviser (which is powered by VouchedFor) or explore investment accounts provided by platforms (with comparison data provided by The Platforum).

The ‘ideas’ come from a variety of sources including our own writers but also anyone else with thoughts on investing. One group who are obviously well qualified to comment is the financial adviser community and we actively seek your ‘ideas’. We pay £75 for an ‘idea’ that we publish so let us know what you’d like to share.

At the end of the day we all know that there isn’t a perfect answer to how an individual should invest but there are good ideas. Tell us what you think of ideasforinvesting and we look forward to receiving your ideas.

What are ‘Ideas’ for Investing?

An ‘idea’ can include all aspects of investing. Many are funds because of their suitability to retail customers but also investment trusts, ETFs and anything else that is relevant to a mainstream audience. As well as instruments, ‘ideas’ can be investing strategies, platforms, a particular way of working with an adviser, tax issues, retirement ideas, saving for children etc – our definition is broad and simply follows the aim of being helpful.

This is not a site for very experienced investors, high net worth individuals or professionals so we’re not looking for the exotic or esoteric – it’s all about interesting, understandable and relevant ideas which are presented in a way that is simple, accessible and free of jargon.
