Whittingham in multi-manager move

Insight Investment has appointed Nigel Whittingham as managing director of the multi-manager business it bought from the Rothschild family in December last year.

Whittingham is expected to join in May from Edinburgh Fund Managers where, as group business development director, he oversaw the acquisition of multi-manager specialist Edinburgh Portfolio. He has been with the group for 10 years. His resignation comes just days after it was announced that Portfolio managing director Paul Talbot is leaving the company at the end of the month following its final integration into EFM.

Whittingham, who has worked for a wide range of companies in the UK and South Africa, will report directly to Insight deputy managing director Gary Mairs. Head of wealth management service Bambos Hambi, head of speciality funds Simon Shaw and head of alternative investments Rhonda Ryan will all report to Whittingham.

Mairs says: “We are delighted that Nigel shares our vision and is keen to develop the Insight multi-manager business.”

Whittingham says: “Insight has impressed me with its strategic commitment to the multi-manager business and well diversified distribution. I look forward to building a major platform.”
