The Platforum has announced the seven platforms on the shortlist for its Platform Innovation Award.
The shortlist is as follows; Aegon Retirement Choices, Bestinvest, Fidelity, Hargreaves Lansdown, Nucleus, Transact and True Potential.
The award has been voted for by The Platforum team and will be announced at its platform awards evening in London on Thursday evening.
The evening will also see awards handed out for best direct platform, best adviser platform and best workplace savings platform.
Below, The Platforum team has set out why each platform has reached the shortlist.
Aegon ARC is the first platform in the UK to combine an adviser platform with a workplace savings platform giving employees and investors a facility to self-serve. The ability to switch seamlessly from accumulation to decumulation is truly innovative and an important development in the platform market.
Bestinvest In 2012 the platform launched a new tool called Bestinvest FIRST, a guidance tool, or a free investment report service. Clear, simple to understand and one of the better solutions we have seen to guide the inevitably growing ranks of non-advised customers.
Fidelity Fidelity has recently launched products aimed at guiding non-advised customers through the investment process. Three Pathfinder funds; Risk or Theme based portfolios or a broader Select list offer investors three routes to decision-making.
Hargreaves Lansdown Corporate Vantage is the principal non-advised workplace savings platform, helping employers and employees tackle auto-enrolment and retirement savings. The sharp uptake in assets over 2012 reflect the group’s skill at engaging individuals as people, not ‘lives’ or ‘scheme members’.
Nucleus In December 2012, the platform facilitated the sale of the first online life assurance policy sold through a wrap platform. The daily renewable term assurance policy pays out a sum on death equivalent to the difference between the value of a client’s platform assets and the client’s target portfolio value.
Transact There’s a temptation to make innovation synonymous with technology but we think it’s a broader consideration. The firm commitment to retain a customer service team which matches advisers by region to a group of expert service staff wins constant praise. Innovation can be sticking to your guns as the world turns to Vivaldi hold music – and it can be human as well as digital!
True Potential The first adviser platform in the UK to develop full integration with adviser software and to offer access via tablets and smart phones.
