Website seeks views on pensions

Pension consultant Watson Wyatt is setting up a website to collect

the views of employers and pension schemes on the Government&#39s

Pensions Green Paper proposals.

The website at www.watson wyatt.com/gpq is structured as a

questionnaire that allows people to post their reactions to the

Department for Work and Pensions Green Paper and the Inland Revenue&#39s

tax simplification proposals.

Watson Wyatt will use the answers it gathers in its official response

to the Government. All responses will be treated in a confidential

manner.

The questionnaire asks respondents to consider whe-ther

implementation of the plans by April 2004 would cause problems, if

simplification of the contracting-out requirements would encourage

schemes to continue with contracting out and what problems would be

caused by raising the minimum age for taking pension benefits to 55.

Watson Wyatt partner Colin Singer says: “Many employers and trustees

have strong views on the proposals in the Green Paper and associated

documents but I suspect that only a minority will have the time to

make a formal submission. Our website provides a quick and simple way

to contribute to the consultation process.”
