Watch the Money Advice Service’s new £1.43m TV ads

The Money Advice Service has launched a new television advertising campaign costing £1.43m based around its slogan “Ask Ma”.

The adverts first aired on Tuesday and will run until November to promote the use of MAS for dealing with unexpected bills and saving for a holiday.

MAS has previously been criticised for its “colossal” marketing spend by the Treasury select committee and Citizens Advice Bureau.

It has an overall budget of £46.5m for 2013/14 and has launched a series of TV campaigns promoting its “free, unbiased and independent advice” service.

A MAS spokeswoman says: “The overall cost to run the TV ads through September, October and November is £1.43m, including production costs. The campaign speaks directly to people most in need of our help while maintaining the high levels of impact of the MA campaign launched last year.

“The new campaign is moving from letting people know who we are to showing people how we can help solve their problems – by making money relevant, real and reassuringly straightforward.”

  1. So these adverts aired on Tuesday did they? Ok that would have been the 16th September. The 16th of Sepetmber to air an ad regarding the cost of going back to school??? As the youngsters these days would paraphrase… WTF?? It would not have taken rocket science to work out this ad is a total watse of money given the date it went out. What idot in the MAS agreed to the time of an ad all about the cost of going back to school going out at least 2 weeks after term time has recommenced. They must have been up all noght dreaming this one up. Still its only OPM. This kind of stupidity really makes me angry.

  2. Sorry, but what have these ads got to do with going back to school? One is about helping people to save for a holiday and one is about dealing with unexpected bills…
