Virgin Money hires former HML chief

Former HML chief executive Brian Brodie has joined Virgin Money as its new operations director.

He joined Virgin in January and reports to chief operating officer Mark Parker.

Brodie left HML in November, along with chief commercial and finance officer Neil Warman. HML announced last week its interim chief executive, Andrew Jones, who was put in charge initially on a temporary basis when Brodie left HML, had been given the job on a full time basis.

Brodie joined HML as its managing director in January 2008 and was made chief executive of the third-party servicer in October 2009.

Prior to his time at HML, Brodie held a number of roles at Royal Bank of Scotland, including director of mortgage operations and director of retail service operations.

Richard Branson’s Virgin Money bought state-owned Northern Rock in November in a deal worth £747m, which could potentially rise to more than £1bn.

A Virgin Money spokesman says: “Brian has extensive experience and will help the business deliver its operational capability. I am sure he will prove to be an invaluable new addition to the Virgin Money team.”
