M&G Investments has announced fund manager Matthew Vaight will take sole responsibility for the M&G Global Emerging Markets and Asian funds after confirming the departure of Michael Godfrey.

Vaight will continue to be supported by the M&G global equity team following the departure of Godfrey, who has left for another opportunity in the industry.

M&G chief executive Michael McLintock says: “Matthew is an investment manager of considerable talent and he will continue to manage the two funds without any change to the investment approach or process.

“He will continue to be supported in his efforts by a very able team. We are sad to see Michael leave. He has made a significant contribution during his eight years at M&G.”

Michael Godfrey adds: “Matthew and I have been managing the funds successfully as co-managers for several years and I now believe it is in the best interests of the funds for there to be a sole manager. Matthew is ideally placed to take on that responsibility.”

According to the asset manager, there will be no change to investment approach, process or strategy on either fund.
