Minimum benefit/minimum premium: No minimum/£5 a month

Maximum benefit: 50% of earnings subject to a maximum of £400,000 a year

Minimum-maximum ages: 18-60

Minimum term: Five years

Deferred period: Variable to fit with the structure of local authority sick pay

Definition of disability: Own occupation

Options: Guaranteed or reviewable premiums, guaranteed insurability, premium waiver, Index-linking, increasing insurance option linked to teacher’s pay scale, cover while not in occupation, career break up to one year, worldwide cover
