Unum marketing and business development director Paul Davies says the provider’s decision to open up cover nationwide is a significant opportunity, especially for business operating in areas “virtually uninsurable”.
Davies says other enhancements include increased free cover limit to £1.25m. All non-standard terms, including ratings, exclusions and declines, will be removed for amounts up to the revised scheme FCL.
He says: “Unum is a rounded Group Risk specialist covering all core group markets. We are committed to stimulating market growth through the development of an attractive, relevant and affordable portfolio across the entire range of risk products.
“We believe this news will also be welcomed by consumers, where access to insurance that protects their families’ welfare is now critically important.”
In addition to the product enhancements, Unum has also made a significant reduction to the number of caveats applied to quotes in order to make the process easier for advisers and employers. In future these will only relate to risk evaluation data and employer requests for non-standard terms.
