Unum appoints PR head

Leading protection provider UnumProvident has appointed John Hutson as head of public relations.

Hutson was previously head of public relations at RAC Motoring Services, where he promoted RAC Travel News, a joint venture with ITN.

He then worked for law firm Bevan Ashford, helping to rebrand corporate identity and launch a website. He is a member of the CBI and a fellow of the IPR, who awarded him a sword of excellence award in 1997.

UnumProvident corporate services director Joanne Hindle says: “John&#39s appointment will add a new dynamic in raising our brand profile. His experience of running communications departments and his knowledge of the media will be a great asset.”

Hutson says: “I am thrilled to be taking on this new challenge at an extremely exciting time in the company&#39s development. UnumProvident has many great stories to tell – not least in its ground-breaking work in the areas of rehabilitation and championing the return of disabled people to the workplace.”
