UKU appoints sales and marketing director

Alastair Harmby is to join UK Underwriting Ltd as sales and marketing director.

Harmby, former a UKI Partnership employee, is to rejoin the firm on September 1 and will concentrate on developing the flow of new clients, particularly affinity clients.

UKU managing director Paul Smith says: “Harmby will add heavyweight credibility to our market-leading product offering. He is a supreme networker who will give us access to even more of the biggest and most sophisticated clients, in line with our ambition to double the business in size over the next three years.”

Other changes to the firm include the promotion of Karen Smith to UKU technical director of underwriting, and the departure of its finance director Tim Ward, leaving UKU in October.
