UK Pru insurance and investment sales down in 2000

Insurance and investment sales of Prudential products through intermediaries fell by 9 per cent to £2.9bn in 2000. Prudential blamed the fall on lower sales of with-profits bonds.

Sales of insurance and investment products via Prudential Financial Services fell to £2.3bn last year from £2.5bn in 1999. The company said that this fall resulted from a reduction in sales staff.

Prudential&#39s sales overseas was better, with growth in the US and Asia bringing a worldwide group growth increase of 13 per cent over 2000.
