UK and New Zealand firms link to aid Qrops switches

Montfort International has designed a Qrops financial planning service to help UK and New Zealand savers transfer their pension savings to respective countries.

The firm has teamed up with international business lawyers Michael Reason & Partners and Aucklandbased chartered accountant Gilligan Sheppard to offer clients local advice if they are switching between either jurisdiction. The three firms have undertaken preliminary work to gain approval from HMRC and New Zealand and expect the scheme to be running in the next three months.

Montfort International managing director Geraint Davies says : “There is an abundance of tax opportunities between UK and New Zealand and setting up and registering a Qrops scheme is relatively straightforward. However, the continuation of maintaining it and obeying the rules is much more difficult and requires huge technical knowledge.

“This scheme will ensure that people coming from New Zealand to the UK are receiv-ing Kiwi-friendly financial planning and not square peg advice for a round hole which can often happen.”

Consistency is central to TCF
