UBS creates new roles as it looks to expand its UK retail sales team

UBS Global Asset Management has today announced an expansion of its retail sales team as John Shepherd and Warren Tonkinson are promoted into senior roles to help capture future growth opportunities in the distribution arena.

Shepherd is promoted to a new role as head of UK discretionary & intermediaries, which incorporates responsibility for UBS Global Asset Management’s relationship with UBS Wealth Management’s high net worth individual and core affluent client segments.
Tonkinson, head of UK strategic alliances, takes on additional responsibility for building UBS’ presence in the wider IFA community and Nationals & Networks channel. Warren will be looking to recruit an additional sales director for this channel, to augment the recent appointment of Christian Elliott as head of the UK broker desk.
UBS head of UK retail sales Graham Kane says: “The UBS UK retail business has experienced strong growth over the last five years. This new team structure allows us to more closely align our business with the requirements of our different client segments. Warren and John are both highly regarded sales professionals and I am pleased that this new team structure will allow them to further expand their roles and take on additional responsibilities.”
