Truestone hires Ed Smithson as senior consultant

Ed Smithson has joined Truestone Employee Benefits in the role of senior consultant.

Smithson holds the Associateship of the Pensions Management Institute qualification and has extensive experience in the pensions industry.

He has worked for some of the UK’s leading actuarial consultancies, latterly as a senior consultant at Hymans Robertson LLP.

Truestone Asset Management director and head of employee John Deacon says: “Ed’s arrival adds a further dimension to our growing business. His knowledge of trust based pension arrangements will allow us to provide a truly holistic employee benefit consulting service.

“Codes of practice on trustee knowledge and understanding and internal controls now mean that all trustees, regardless of the size of their pension scheme, now more than ever, need to be well advised. Services such as governance reviews and adviser evaluations are no longer ‘nice to have’, they are necessary to demonstrate the efficient running of a pension scheme.”

Smithson says: “It is very exciting to be joining an organisation with such ambitious plans for the future. I look forward to playing a part in Truestone’s continued growth and success.”
