Trevor Matthews elected as new CII president

Trevor Matthews has been elected the new president of the Chartered Insurance Institute for 2008-09, following the end of Lord Hunt of Wirral’s tenure.

Barry Smith has been named deputy president and vice presidents on council include Chris Hanks, Julian James, Ken Wallace, Richard Anderson and Sian Fisher.

Peter Hubbard and Branko Bjelobaba have been elected vice presidents.

Matthews says: “I am incredibly excited to have this opportunity especially following on from such an exceptional year with Lord Hunt of Wirral as president. My presidential theme is ‘Professionalism – bringing it to life’.

“We work in a noble profession and my aim during my year as president is to adopt an ambassadorial role to remind people of the value of what they do. I’m thoroughly looking forward to getting out there and meeting the members, finding out what occupies their thoughts and having a good, constructive exchange of views.”
