Travel insurers overcharging, claims online provider

Big travel operators and retail chains are charging holidaymakers up to three times more than necessary for travel insurance according to online travel services provider Rapidinsure.

A survey by Rapidinsure, part of insurance and financial services company Berkeley Morgan Group, revealed people should shop around as prices vary rapidly for travel insurance.

It found for example Thomas Cooke charged someone travelling to Europe £39.99 for ten days cover, Tesco charged £21.57 and Rapidinsure charged £13.62.
