Tories attack ISA retreat

The Government has watered down its commitment to extend savings to a further six million people through individual savings accounts, according to the Tory party.


In a response to a Parliamentary question two weeks ago by Tory Treasury spokesman Nick Gibb, which raised the question of six million extra savers, Prime Minister Tony Blair avoided mention of any target.


In December last year Blair said ISAs would give six million more people the chance to save.
