TMB in move to forge links with Urdu community

The Mortgage Business is producing marketing information in Urdu as part of an initiative to help brokers build links with their local communities.

Manchester broker Thom- son Finance was the first to test the idea after working with TMB business development manager Ray Ronan. It produced 500 flyers in Urdu promoting its specialist products such as self-employed and self-certification mortgages and buy-to-let loans.

The initiative proved a success, with #2m in cases, including a #400,000 mortgage taken out by a restaurant owner in Rusholme.

TMB met half the costs of producing the flyers. The company, which is part of the HBOS group, has 12 regional development officers based around the UK.

Director of sales and marketing Mark Bergin says: “TMB is dedicated to working with local mortgage brokers and helping them develop their business.

“We appreciate the benefit of brokers&#39 local knowledge and want to help them capitalise on this. These flyers, although simple and inexpensive, have helped brokers tap into local markets that previously they did not have contacts with.”

TMB is working with broker Key Estates on a similar initiative.
