Threadneedle offers support on the net

Threadneedle is launching an IFA advice and information website in a bid to take a lead in the online investment race.

The new site offers several IFA services, including monthly and weekly

market news, economic forecasts and price quotes for all unit trust and

Oeics in the UK.

Threadneedle is one of a small group of major fund managers, including M&G

and Gartmore, which has not signed up to any of the new IFA-based fund

supermarkets.

It has been cautious about committing itself to fund supermarkets, as it

believes that they could strain links between fund managers and their

intermediaries. However, it has admitted it is likely to join a supermarket

at some stage in the next six months.

Head of e-business Philip Goffin says: “The principal reason for launching

this site is to strengthen the relationship with our intermediaries. It was

not a reaction to the fund supermarkets.”
