Threadneedle Isa ads on computer-controlled sites

In a UK-first, Threadneedle Investments is promoting its Isas on computer-controlled, floodlit outdoor poster sites.

Threadneedle says it is the only financial company to advertise on the new poster system brought to the UK by Firstlight. Each poster unit is fitted with a cassette storing 12 individual posters ready for display when triggered. The posters are 2.8 metres tall and 1.86 metres wide. The new facility lets companies advertise by time of day or day of the week to get maximum exposure.

The first poster site goes live at Elephant and Castle in London on February 8 and 180 posters will be erected over the next two months.

Threadneedle has bought a third of the exposure time available and will be displaying three different Isa posters.

One poster focuses on Threadneedle&#39s Standard & Poor&#39s rating with the slogan, Isas that come recommended. A second poster promotes a responsible approach to selling Isas. The third poster aims to ease concerns over the poor performance of technology shares.

Carrying favour

I expect it is a good thing to change the rules every so often. That way, few of us ever get to grips with the current ruling so we need lots of guidance on how to get it right. Sometimes, that is how it feels with pension legislation. It certainly keeps technical gurus in a […]

It&#39s a wonderful Life

I was not quite sure if I should laugh or cry a few minutes into my recent meeting with Jim Smith, Scottish Life&#39s head of e-commerce. Jim had just calmly told me “a lot of the ideas we have built into the new service are from something you came up with, Ian, at the Origo […]

Search for the pension hero inside yourself

Curly Watts was a pension hero of 2000. Fans of Coronation Street will have seen pensions taking centre stage at Curly&#39s stag party in an episode just before Christmas. Over their pints in the Rovers Return, the conversation turned to financial planning for the long term. The general conclusions seemed to be that joining an […]

AMP withdraws from Equitable negotiations

Aegon UK, the British subsidiary of the Dutch insurance giant, has withdrawn from negotiations to acquire Equitable Life&#39s assets. Aegon had been seen as the front-runner for Equitable until the announcement. Its withdrawal leaves Australian insurer AMP as the sole potential buyer. AMP presently derives more than half of its business in the UK. If […]
