Threadneedle appoints head of distribution

Threadneedle Investments has appointed global head of product Nick Ring as head of distribution.

Ring will be tasked with driving Threadneedle’s sales, client service, marketing and product development efforts.

He replaces Campbell Fleming, who became chief executive at the asset manager earlier this month.

Ring has also been appointed to the company’s business executive committee and will report to Fleming.

Ring joined Threadneedle in 2008 as global head of product, with responsibility for the product development, product management and investment specialist functions. Prior to joining Threadneedle, he spent nine years at Northern Trust where he held several senior roles including head of wealth management. He has also worked at KPMG, Gartmore and Prudential.

Fleming says: “Nick brings to the head of distribution role extensive technical knowledge and industry experience, combined with a strong strategic focus. He is well placed to lead the distribution team as we continue to strive to deliver outstanding service, effective product solutions and leading investment performance for our diverse range of clients globally.”

Thomas and Thomas Financial Services managing director Darren Lloyd Thomas says: “I am quite interested in Threadneedle’s current direction as it seems to be an exciting time for the business as a whole. Its funds are performing very well, particularly those in South America and the United States.

“I have also noticed it is increasing its presence in the Australian market which is further proof it is looking to expand its offering and it will be interesting to see how things progress.”
