Jupiter has appointed Charlie Thomas as the lead fund manager of the Jupiter ecology fund, its flagship socially responsible fund.
Thomas joined Jupiter's Green Team in 2000 as an analyst in the environmental research unit and became an assistant fund manager. Before joining Jupiter, he worked as an environmental consultant for BP.
In December 2002, Jupiter announced that Green Team head and fund manager Simon Baker was going part-time and spending more time on building up the team to succeed him.
Other changes see Peter Hulse, who joined the team last December but who has been with Jupiter for 12 years, assume responsibility for the Jupiter environmental opportunities fund.
Baker's replacement as head of the Green Team, Emma Howard Boyd says: “The appointment of Charlie Thomas is part of an ongoing and seamless transition process which reflects the natural evolution of responsibilities within this well-established SRI team.”
Thomas says: “Investors can be reassured that the long-term investment approach of the Jupiter ecology fund will continue.I intend to maintain the thematic investment approach which continues to support opportunities for companies providing solutions to environmental and social problems.”
