The Hartford’s Mark Stopard joins Sun Life Financial of Canada

Sun Life Financial of Canada has appointed The Hartford’s Mark Stopard as head of marketing for its UK life and pensions business.

Stopard will be responsible for establishing a product strategy for the firm following the acquisition of Lincoln National UK.

He will become a member of the cross-company integration team, working with Lincoln Financial Group head of products and marketing Simon O’Connor to develop product solutions to meet the needs of the retirement market.

Stopard has previously worked for Aon, Origen Financial Services and as director of pensions for The Hartford, before the firm pulled out of the UK market.

Sun Life Financial of Canada CEO Janet Fuller says: “Mark brings a wealth of expertise and will be a real asset in defining our role in a market that is experiencing rapid change.

“For some time we have been looking to hire someone with Mark’s specialist understanding and this will be even more valuable as we bring together Sun Life Financial of Canada and Lincoln National UK.”

Stopard says: “Joining Sun Life Financial of Canada represents a huge opportunity for me and I am excited about getting down to work. The retirement market is facing greater challenges than ever before, so there has never been a more rewarding time to work in the sector.”
