The Hartford appoints Marc Lieberman as European CEO

The Hartford has appointed Marc Lieberman as president and chief executive officer of European operations.

Lieberman replaces Mike Kalen, who is returning to the United States as senior vice president of finance, but Kalen will remain in Europe until September 2008 to help to ensure a smooth transition.

Lieberman was previously chief executive officer of ING New Zealand and prior to that he held senior executive positions at Constellation and Wachovia.

In his new role will be responsible for strategic direction, general management and profit and loss, reporting to Peter Smyth, executive vice president of The Hartford’s international markets group.

Smyth says: “Lieberman brings a wealth of international management expertise to his new role and I am confident that he will continue The Hartford’s momentum in the UK.”
