u Framlington has recruited Rathbone&#39s UK smaller companies fund manager Roger Whiteoak to head its UK small-cap team. He will take over the management of Framlington&#39s £110m capital trust from Catherine Stanley, who has left to join Equitable Life. Whiteoak will join the

company on December 4, with a relaunch of the fund planned for the new year.

u ABN Amro Fund Managers has reached its first major landmark, with £500m assets under management after just two years in operation. Its AA-rated UK growth fund leads the field with £391.7m.

u Baillie Gifford has made a raft of new appointments to its UK, European and Japanese investment teams. Graham Wood, Andy Strathdee and Angus Franklin have all moved internally to the UK desk while David Walton joins the European team from M&G. Former head of Japanese investments at Stewart Ivory & Co Anja Balfour is to join BG&#39s Japanese desk.

u NPI is to launch the UK&#39s first socially responsible with-profits fund in October. The fund will have a headline rate of 8.5 per cent and carries no initial charges,

policy fees or loyalty bonuses. NPI will donate £100 to Amnesty International, the World Wildlife Fund or the Mines Advisory Group for fund investments before the end of the year.
