Thames River appoints FSA technical specialist

Thames River has announced the appointment of FSA senior manager Graeme Pollok as compliance and risk manager.

Pollok will join Thames River Capital’s eight-strong compliance, risk and legal team.

Pollok had worked at the Financial Services Authority since December 2005 and was technical specialist in the FSA’s alternative investments team responsible for the supervision of the biggest UK hedge fund managers from December 2007.

Thames River Capital’s chief compliance and risk officer Toby Hampden-Acton says: “Current market conditions highlight the need for extremely tight internal risk control systems and at Thames River we have built an excellent team of individuals steeped in compliance. Graeme has a rare combination of skills and a depth of experience earned both as a regulator and within the asset management industry and he is an invaluable addition to the team.”

Pollok says: “Thames River has a reputation for excellence both in investment performance and client service. Underpinning this reputation are stringent risk and compliance mechanisms ensuring optimum returns are balanced by appropriate risk mitigation. I look forward to contributing to an already extremely strong risk and compliance team.”
