Tenet sets out guide to treat customers fairly

Tenet is producing a guide to treating customers fairly for network members to help them to embed the principles into their practices.

The guide includes a toolkit outlining the main topics to be considered with illustrative examples and template documents on the member extranet.

Tenet has been hosting a series of workshops around the country for principals of member firms to support the launch of the guide and allow them to discuss their concerns and new ideas.

The network and support service provider is also creating a certification programme incorporating a points system, which will allow advisers to gauge how far towards their TCF certificate of achievement they are, revealing how much work they have yet to do in embedding TCF.

Group distribution and development director Keith Richards says: “We are committed to providing our advisers with full support to both implement and embed TCF into their businesses. Working together, we have been able to ensure that Tenet advisers successfully met the March 2007 deadline to begin implementing the principles of TCF and we are now tackling the next stage.

“The guide and toolkit offer a comprehensive reference manual that firms can use on an ongoing basis and it will give our advisers great confidence that they are fulfilling their TCF responsibilities compliantly.”

There has been a huge, if unheralded, improvement in the professional standards of advisers. Apart from that, consumers have been burdened by a system that fails most of them.

Panel are unaware of what IFAs do

When I read an article headlined, Disconnected consumers need with-profits service, I just despair.Apparently, the Financial Services Consumer Panel claims that eight million with-profits policyholders cannot get independent advice because their funds are too small to generate commission for advisers.Once again, this shows a complete misunder-standing about what IFAs do. We do not have to […]
