Taking account

The question of whether lawyers and accountants will allow referrals to multi-ties and whole of market advisers is one that is vexing intermediaries, lawyers and accountants.

No doubt, each segment of the intermediary market would like to have the referrals exclusively.

This may not be tenable, with the accountants at least indicating that they are going to whole of market advisers and, in some cases, to multi-ties.

The lawyers have their position under review but at present are sticking with independents.

Money Marketing would like to make one or two suggestions.

The first is that they make sure they are aware just what the three types of advisers represent in terms of the advice and service that they can give.

The second that they do not necessarily fall for the argument that the market is inevitably going to go one way or another. Many advisers are still considering their positions carefully.

Both professions should consider first if the market is going to change dramatically and second if they change their position now it may become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
