Swiss Life to fill the protection gap for St James&#39 Place

Swiss Life has struck a white-labelling deal with St James&#39s Place Group, formerly J Rothschild Assurance, to provide it with a complete range of protection products.

From April, Swiss Life will provide group critical-illness cover, group income protection and group life products to fill gaps in SJP&#39s range.

SJP will also be offering a stakeholder plan supplied by Clerical Medical for the individual and group markets. It is introducing a level-loaded pension investment plan aimed at higher-income individuals who are prepared to pay higher charges for an advice-based product with multi-manager investment funds.

Swiss Life says the deal is part of its strategy to become the bigger provider of protection products to other providers which have no pres- ence in the market.

Partnering manager (employee benefits division) John Ritchie says: “We are trying to position ourselves as the partner of choice for financial services brands that need protection products to fill a gap in their line.”
