SVM takes five

Scottish Value Management has introduced a unit trust individual savings account (Isa) that offers investors a choice of five unit trusts.

Clients can select one or more funds from the range, which includes SVM UK growth, SVM European growth, SVM continental Europe, SVM new economy and SVM UK opportunities.

SVM new economy is a technology fund investing in the UK and other parts of Europe while the SVM UK opportunities fund consists of small- and mid-caps in the UK.

All of the funds take a value style approach to investing. This means that stocks the fund manager thinks are undervalued will be selected after a thorough analysis of their turnover and profit margins.

The range of five funds ensures that there is a mix of core funds and more specialist funds in the UK and the rest of Europe. Although there is something to suit all risk profiles, those who want tax-free exposure to a general global fund may be disappointed with this Isa.

According to Standard & Poor&#39s the SVM Scottish Value fund is ranked 4 out of 30 funds based on £1,000 invested on a bid to bid basis with net income reinvested over three years to February 12, 2001.
