Surrender link for Widows

Scottish Widows has set up a link to the Association of Policy Market Makers&#39 website to help policyholder explore their options when surrendering endowments.

Widows claims it is the first life office to offer such an initiative, which pre-empts the FSA&#39s move to make it a statutory duty for life companies to inform consumers of alternatives to surrendering.

The APMM says directing policyholders to its website is one way to meet this requirement and it hopes other companies will follow Widows&#39 lead.

Widows spokesman Neil Cameron says: “We are always keen to explain options to policyholders and this link is embracing a new route to extend the services we already offer. We are aware of the FSA&#39s proposals.”
