Stonebanks&#39 barbed olive branch for Standard

Standard Life carpetbagger David Stonebanks has extended a barbed-edged olive branch to the insurer, suggesting he will not force a special general meeting to vote on demutualisation until its AGM next April if it will approve his resolutions in advance.

Stonebanks, whose first demutualisation vote attempt was thwarted last month, says he wants Standard to be involved in the resolution drafting this time around as it has to live with the outcome of the campaign.

Stonebanks, who has sent in his amendments, says this is despite many of his supporters wanting to push ahead.

Standard says it is unable to respond further to the request until after its board meeting at the end of the month.

In an email to supporters, Stonebanks said Standard&#39s directors have threatened to make a demutualisation bid more difficult in future if this bid fails.
